On departure from local thermal equilibrium in porous media due to a rapidly changing heat source: the Sparrow number

چکیده
Local thermal equilibrium is an often-used hypothesis when studying heat transfer in porous media. Examination of non-equilibrium phenomena shows that this hypothesis is usually not valid during rapid heating or cooling. The results from this theoretical study con®rm that local thermal equilibrium in a ̄uidized bed depends on the size of the layer, mean pore size, interstitial heat transfer coecient, and thermophysical properties. For a porous medium subject to rapid transient heating, the existence of the local thermal equilibrium depends on the magnitude of the Sparrow number and on the rate of change of the heat input. # 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. Slip flow in porous micro-tubes under local thermal non-equilibrium conditions
In the present work, forced convection heat transfer of slip flow in porous micro-tubes with local thermal non-equilibrium between the gas and the solid matrix is investigated numerically. For this purpose, the flow is considered hydrodynamically developed but thermally developing. The Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer model in conjunction with separate energy equations for the gas and the solid matri...

The present work involves numerical simulation of a steady, incompressible forcedconvection fluid flow through a matrix of porous media between two parallel plates at constanttemperature. A Darcy model for the momentum equation was employed. The mathematical model forenergy transport was based on single phase equation model which assumes local thermal equilibriumbetween fluid and solid phases. ...
متن کاملA Study on free convective heat and mass transfer flow through a highly porous medium with radiation, chemical reaction and Soret effects
The paper addresses the effects of Soret on unsteady free convection flow of a viscous incompressible fluid through a porous medium with high porosity bounded by a vertical infinite moving plate under the influence of thermal radiation, chemical reaction, and heat source. The fluid is considered to be gray, absorbing, and emitting but non-scattering medium, and Rosseland approximation is consid...
متن کاملUsing Lattice Boltzmann Method to Investigate the Effects of Porous Media on Heat Transfer from Solid Block inside a Channel
A numerical investigation of forced convection in a channel with hot solid block inside a square porous block mounted on a bottom wall was carried out. The lattice Boltzmann method was applied for numerical simulations. The fluid flow in the porous media was simulated by Brinkman-Forchheimer model. The effects of parameters such as porosity and thermal conductivity ratio over flow pattern and t...

In this paper, the effect of the Brownian term in natural convection of CuO-Water nanofluid inside a partially filled porous cavity, with internal heat generation has been studied. It is assumed that the viscosity and thermal conductivity of nanofluid consists of a static part and a Brownian part of which is a function of temperature and the volume fraction of nanofluid. Because of internal hea...
